Registering With The Practice

We are pleased to welcome you to our practice. 

Could you please return the attached registration form and questionnaire, along with proof of ID and proof of address, i.e. recent utility bill, as soon as possible so that the information is available for the GPs.  

The surgery is open from 8am to 6pm; should you require a same day appointment, please telephone as early as possible.

REPEAT MEDICATION:

If you require repeat medication please make an appointment with the doctor, if you are on five or more medicines please make this a double appointment.  Thereafter you will be able to order repeat prescriptions as detailed below.

Please register for online access for repeat prescriptions, this can be done at reception desk.  If you do not have online access we can take prescriptions over the telephone between the hours of 10am-4pm.

Prescriptions can take up to 5 working days to be processed, please do not phone before this time to check if prescription is ready.

We strongly recommend that you make an appointment with our practice nurse to have a new patient check within the first 3 months of registering.

If you are a carer please note that the Doctors and nurses at the practice are keen to help and support you as much as they can.  Please refer to the carers section on our website for useful information, registration form and details of the local carers centre or contact the practice on 01324 812315 for help and advice on accessing benefits and carers services.

Am I a Carer?

A carer is anyone who looks after a friend, family member or neighbour due to old age, physical or mental illness, disability, or an addiction (this does not include paid care workers or those who are volunteering).

The number of unpaid carers in Scotland is not known but it was estimated that there were around 700,000 to 800,000 before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Research from Carers UK suggests that number might now be over a million.

‘Looking after’ can mean helping with things like shopping, domestic tasks, emotional assistance and personal care – all of which are much more difficult during coronavirus.

If this sounds like you, you may be a carer.

When you’re caring for someone, it can feel like there’s no time for you.

But your health and wellbeing are just as important as anyone else’s. And support is available for you.

After all, you can only look after someone else if you look after yourself too.

Temporary Registration

If you are ill while away from home, you can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to permanently register with the practice if still in the area.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
