Your pregnancy test is positive – what next?
You should contact the Maternity Services booking bureau to commence your antenatal care. Your first appointment (pre-booking) should be before 10 weeks.

Ask for a booking appointment with the midwife.
During the pre-booking appointment your midwife will take your medical, social and pregnancy history and make a plan for your antenatal care. She will then organise a further appointment for your first scan which will confirm your due date; this scan usually takes place between 11-13 weeks.
Chronic Disease Clinics
If you suffer from one or more chronic disease i.e. asthma, COPD, diabetes, Chronic Kidney disease, coronary heart disease or have had a stroke, you will be invited to attend for a health review with one of our Practice Nurses. This will involve a 20-40 minute appointment or telephone consultation. You may also be given an appointment to have blood tests prior to the health review so that the nurse has your results to discuss with you at your appointment. If you are unable to attend either of these appointments it is important that you inform the practice as soon as you can so that the appointment can be offered to another patient.
CTAC
This service provides patients with appointments for blood tests, BP checks and Chornic Disease management clinics. These appointments are bookable by contacting the practice on 01324 812315.
District Nurses
Our District Nurses provide nursing care to people at home who are frail, ill or just out of hospital. Contact them by telephone 815105.
Family Planning Services
The practice offers a wide range of contraceptive services, including coil fitting, Nexplannon Implant and removal. (1st appointment should be made with GP). Emergency contraceptive services can be provide at your local pharmacy.
Childhood Immunisation
All Childhood Immunisations Years 0-5 are carried out by the Forth Valley Vaccination Team based at the Health Centre. All recall and follow-up is administered by that team.
Babies will be seen by a GP at the Practice for their 6 week examination and we will contact you with an appointment.

Cervical Smears
The Scottish Cervical Call/Recall System (SCCRS) which was implemented in May 2007 will invite women due for cervical screening for the first time and those due to be recalled, based on the date and result of their last smear. When you receive your invite please make an appointment with the Practice Nurse.
Mental Health Nurse
We offer appointments (both phone and face to face) with Mental Health Nurse based at the Practice every Monday and Wednesday. These are bookable at reception.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner
We have a clinic on a Wednesday and Friday with the Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She deals with urgent issues including infections, headaches, skin issues, ENT problems, coughs and colds etc.
Physiotherapist
Physiotherapist based at the Practice consults on a Tuesday and Wednesday and will deal with most musculoskeletal pains and is able to administer steroid injections.
Practice Pharmacy Team
We have an in house Pharmacy team who will deal with medication requests, outpatient hospital correspondance and medication reviews. You may be asked to book a review appointment with the team which would be done over the phone.
